Small-Group Landscape Photography Workshops

Group sizes range from three to six photographers, depending on the workshop. This isn’t a crowded photo tour where you’re left to figure everything out alone. We work together on composition, light, exposure, lens choice, and field workflow while you’re actually photographing, with plenty of time for questions and direct feedback.

It depends on the destination. Tuscany involves short, relaxed walks and is generally easy, while the Dolomites and Iceland require a moderate level of fitness, with some hiking on uneven terrain and, in the mountains, at altitude. We always move at a comfortable pace, but you should be prepared to carry your camera equipment and keep your bag reasonably light. Each workshop page includes a detailed difficulty description.

We don’t believe in rigid schedules. A typical day may include an early-morning shoot, breakfast and some downtime, a post-processing or image-review session, followed by an afternoon and sunset shoot. The exact rhythm varies with the destination, season, weather, and available light. The approach is flexible, but never unstructured.

Weather is part of landscape photography, and sometimes the most interesting images come from conditions that initially look unpromising. Our accommodation and core logistics are planned, while daily shooting locations remain flexible. We assess the conditions and choose the places most likely to work photographically rather than following a fixed itinerary simply because it was written in advance.

Yes. Fieldwork and editing are treated as parts of the same photographic process. Depending on the workshop and schedule, sessions may include Lightroom or Capture One, Photoshop techniques, individual editing guidance, group reviews, and constructive image critiques. The aim is to help you understand not only how to capture the photograph, but how to develop it into a finished image.

You don't need top-of-the-line camera gear, but you do need a camera (mirrorless or DSLR) that allows manual exposure control, along with a sturdy tripod and a laptop with editing software for image reviews. A range of lenses—from wide-angle (for grand vistas) to telephoto (for picking out details in the landscape)—is recommended. Before the workshop, you'll receive a full packing and gear checklist tailored specifically to the destination.

The exact package varies by destination, so you should always check the individual workshop page. In general, the price includes photography tuition, accommodation during the workshop, local transportation and logistics, breakfasts, and selected additional meals. Flights, personal expenses, insurance, and some lunches or dinners are normally not included. Travel insurance with trip-cancellation and equipment coverage is strongly recommended.

Comfortable, high-quality accommodation is an essential part of the experience. Unless explicitly noted for remote wilderness expeditions, prices are based on single-occupancy private rooms with private bathrooms—giving you dedicated space to rest, charge gear, and back up your files each evening.

A deposit is required to secure your spot, with the final balance due prior to the trip. Because accommodation, local transport, and logistics are reserved far in advance, deposits are non-refundable unless your spot can be filled. Comprehensive travel insurance with trip-cancellation coverage is highly recommended for all participants.

Because group sizes are strictly limited, each place and seat in our vehicle is normally reserved for a participating photographer receiving hands-on tuition.

These are photography-first experiences rather than traditional sightseeing tours. Our days are planned around light and weather, often involving early starts, extended field sessions, time waiting for conditions, and post-processing sessions. This rhythm may not be particularly enjoyable for someone who isn’t taking part in the photography.

Transport and daily logistics also follow one shared group schedule, so we’re generally unable to arrange separate activities or transportation for non-participating partners.

Exceptions may occasionally be possible for some of our more relaxed destinations, depending on accommodation, vehicle capacity, and the overall logistics. Please contact us before booking so we can discuss whether the specific workshop would be a suitable fit.
